Gary Barlow’s moment of tooth Take That star feared he was past it
IF his singing career ever stalls, Gary Barlow is guaranteed a role starring in Aquafresh ads.
The Take That star has revealed he rediscovered his mojo in an LA supermarket - looking at toothpaste.
After a few years struggling to make it as a solo singer in Britain, Gary relocated the family to California to make a career out of writing songs for other artists.
And it was only when he started doing average chores like the weekly shop that he started to get some inspiration back.
He said: "It was great. I was doing stuff I hadn't done for ten years.
"I would walk into a supermarket and go, 'Wow, look at all the brands of toothpaste - this is unbelievable.'
"I had a year of getting my life back and I watched my son cough, sneeze and walk for the first time."
Gary was always a legendary writer of pop songs but he admits the break-up of Take That and his inability to make it on his own left him unable to drum up any decent lyrics for years.
He said: "I don't know if it was writer's block because I would come up with stuff but it was just rubbish.
"I've always had a good ear, my intuition is good with new music, but I knew straight away that nothing I was coming up with was any good.
"Most of what you do - the big part of you - is gone, it's evaporated. Your question is, 'Is it going to come back?'"
"I ended up with no confidence as a writer."
He compares his situation post-Take That to a once successful football team that is now struggling.
He said: "It's like taking confidence away from Premier League winners. They play properly but the luck doesn't come their way - and it's exactly the same as a creative person.
"You are not going to come up with anything without confidence. Doing something with all your confidence stripped is hard - it would have been better to take ten years off."
Shame Lee Ryan never did that.

Re: Gary Barlow’s moment of tooth Take That star feared he was past it
The world's best dentist has been knighted.
It's ironic that he got a plaque though.
A Scotsman phones a dentist to enquire about the cost for a tooth extraction
"85 pounds for an extraction, sir" the dentist replied.
"85 quid! Huv ye no'got anythin' cheaper?"
"That's the normal charge," said the dentist.
"Whit aboot if ye didnae use any anaesthetic?"
"That's unusual, sir, but I could do it and would knock 15 pounds off."
"Whit aboot if ye used one of your dentist trainees and still without any anaesthetic?"
"I can't guarantee their professionalism and it'll be painful. But the price could drop by 20 pounds."
"How aboot if ye make it a trainin' session, ave yer student do the extraction with the other students watchin' and learnin'?"
"It'll be good for the students", mulled the dentist. "I'll charge you 5 pounds but it will be traumatic."
"Och, now yer talkin' laddie! It's a deal," said the Scotsman. "Can ye confirm an appointment for the wife next Tuesday then?"

Re: Gary Barlow’s moment of tooth Take That star feared he was past it
i'm pretty sure all of this is actually taken from gary's book, which was released 6 years ago, (might have mentioned it in an interview aswell - can't remember) and that he actually said he found it amazing going back to ordinary life and doing ordinary things again and NOT showbizzy things. this period of his life had nothing to do with the music industry so much as finding himself and enjoying his family.
oh yeah, and mr. cree (WHO?), lets put your name up against gary's and see which one anyone on earth save your mother gives a **** about.
